Subcontractors
NR Building Solutions self-performs renovation work and still engages specialist trades. What we look for, and the register.
We self-perform, and we still need specialists
Our crews do the renovation work — demolition, subfloor, flooring, walls, paint, kitchens and baths, skirting, exteriors and roofs. That is deliberate and it is most of what we do.
But self-performing renovation does not mean doing everything, and pretending otherwise is how contractors end up performing licensed work they are not licensed for.
Where we engage specialist trades:
| Abatement | Asbestos and lead. Licensed abatement contractors only, and testing before demolition rather than after. |
|---|---|
| Electrical and mechanical | Where the scope or the jurisdiction requires a licensed trade |
| Utility connections | In jurisdictions where the utility or the state requires a specific licence |
| Specialist roofing systems | Manufacturer-certified installation on some commercial systems |
| Surge capacity | Occasionally, on large programmes — and only with trades we already know |
What we look for
Licences, first. Which ones you hold and which states you hold them in. This is the field that actually determines whether we can use you, and it is also — bluntly — a capacity signal we pass on to our own clients when they ask who is performing what.
Insurance that survives a look. Our clients are institutional and their vendor requirements flow down. A trade whose certificate does not meet the standard cannot work on those communities, and finding that out at mobilization helps nobody.
Reliability over price. We are running programmes on schedules we have committed to. A trade that is cheaper and arrives a week late costs us more than the saving, every time.
What you should ask us
Before you register, ask what our payment terms are and ask us to be specific.
A subcontractor who has to chase payment is a subcontractor who does not answer the second time we call, and that is a worse outcome for us than for you. If the answer is not one you can work with, better to find out now.
Register
Send us your legal name, a point of contact, the services you perform, the licences you hold and the states you hold them in.
The subcontractor registration form captures all of it.
Common questions
Recruitment fraud notice
People impersonate construction companies to defraud job seekers. It is common, it works because our industry hires quickly and informally, and it costs people money they cannot spare.
NR Building Solutions will never, under any circumstances:
- Ask you to pay for anything — training, equipment, a background check, or a uniform
- Ask for your bank details, card number or Social Security number before an offer
- Send you a cheque and ask you to forward part of it anywhere
- Make you an offer without a conversation with a real person at NRBS
- Conduct hiring entirely over a messaging app
Every genuine offer from us follows a conversation with someone at NRBS whose name you know. If something you have received does not match that, it did not come from us — call (713) 923-0835 and we will tell you straight away.
